§ 1-18. General penalty.

    Whenever in this Code or any other ordinance of the city or regulation promulgated by any officer thereof under authority vested in him by law or ordinance, any act is prohibited or is declared to be unlawful or an offense, or the doing of any act is required, or the failure to do any act is declared to be unlawful, and where no specific penalty is provided or there is no statutory limitation to a lesser amount, the violation of such ordinance or regulation shall be punished by a fine not exceeding two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00). Any fine or penalty imposed for a violation of any ordinance adopted pursuant to Section 7-148 of the Connecticut General Statutes, may be appealed and shall be enforced in accordance with the provisions of sections 97-2 through 97-8 of the Code of Ordinances.

    B.

    The imposition of any fine or penalty hereunder shall not prevent the enforced abatement by the city of any unlawful condition.
