§ 25-3. Destruction of buildings to prevent spread of fire.

  • The Chief of the Fire Department or other officer in command at any fire may, when he shall deem it necessary, order any building or structure to be destroyed or torn down to prevent the spreading of a fire; provided, however, that he shall have the sanction of the Mayor thereto or, in his absence, that of the President of the governing body, except when because of the absence of the Mayor or the President of the governing body it is impracticable to obtain such sanction.
